Crystal World was founded in the United States in 1983, as producers of high quality, innovative collectibles composed of the finest full-cut faceted crystal.
Contributing to Crystal World's leadership in design, manufacturing and sale of crystal figurines is the talent of its founder and lead designer Rudy Nakai. Both Rudy and his staff of designers, including Tom Suzuki, Nicholas Mulargia, Roy Jakil, and Anna Harigae, are world renowned for their intricate mastery of detail and workmanship. In 1987 a new trend towards colored crystal began when the original Rainbow Castle Collection© was introduced, which revolutionized the marketplace and inspired collectors worldwide. In June of 1998, Crystal World introduced the Disney Showcase Collection, featuring some of Walt Disney's most beloved characters, such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pinocchio and Dumbo. Crystal Facts Crystal is glass that is produced with lead oxide. Lead content makes the crystal dense, yet softer than normal non-leaded glass. The higher density produces better quality light refraction, resulting in exceptional color and brilliance. The added softness allows for sharper facets in the design of the crystal item. Crystal World figurines are constructed of the finest crystal with a lead content of 30+%. How the Crystal Figurines are Made Each crystal figurine is designed by the creative design team using the finest full-cut faceted crystal. Various items feature accents in sterling silver or blown glass. Each crystal figurine is composed of numerous faceted components, which are hand-cut, polished, and assembled with a special glue that sets under ultraviolet light. The crystal used to create Crystal World collectibles is supplied by different vendors from all over the world. Some raw materials are supplied by Swarovski crystal. Taking Care of Crystal It is always important to keep your crystal figurines and display cases free from fingerprints and smudges. The best way to clean crystal is with a soft dry cloth or Micro-Fiber cloth. The Micro-Fiber cloths are reusable when washed. If necessary, use a small amount of glass cleaner on the cloth and wipe gently. Do not submerge item in water or spray cleaner directly on figurine. The use of liquid cleaners on crystal figurines may effect the gluing process, particularly on colored items. |
