When the Prince Regent commissioned this service in 1811, he insisted that every piece had to be different. Royal Worcester compiled a folio of 400 designs in cobalt and lacquer red, lavishly accented with gold, thus creating the first mix and match pattern. The Regent style is recaptured in the Prince Regent service of today.
